Blocks – by Dustin Shum – explores the legacy of Hong Kong’s public housing projects. Hong Kong’s real estate prices are among the highest in the world and thus public housing became the shelter for those who could not afford to own property. Roughly thirty percent of the population lives in public housing which has come to represent typical living spaces in Hong Kong.
Dustin Shum is a Hong Kong based documentary photographer. In his work, he focuses on the relationship between individuals and urban spaces, the living conditions of local disadvantaged groups, and the transformation of Chinese cities and towns in rapidly developing economy.
